New Year's Eve White Russian with almond butter.

I can clearly imagine your surprised face now. What? A drink with almond butter? Well, that's a good joke. Isn't it? 

I have to tell you, it's 100% true. As true as the 100% almond butter I used in it :)

Before we look at the recipe, let me tell you something about this world-famous drink. 

The White Russian, or Biely Rus, or Biely Medveď, was first created by Belgian bartender Gustav Tops in 1949. He created it in honor of Perla Mesta, an American politician, hostess, and later also the American ambassador to Luxembourg.

In addition to the classic white version, he also created its sister drink, also called the Black Russian.

Ok, but Belgium is not Russia. So why is it called that? This drink got its name from vodka, which is its main ingredient. In addition to vodka, the White Russian is also made with coffee liqueur and cream, which is often mistaken for regular milk.

Although the White Russian was already quite famous in the past, it certainly wouldn't be where it is today without the movie " The Big Lebowski". In this 1998 film, Jeff "DUDE" Lebowski ( Jeff Bridges ) drinks it nonstop.  According to die-hard fans of this film, he drank 9 of them throughout the entire film :) 

I have to admit that I had never tried it before this recipe. However, one thing is clear, the White Russian is so delicious that it will definitely be my go-to for some time :)

New Year's Eve White Russian with almond butter. – recipe

To prepare 1 White Russian you will need:

• 50ml vodka
• 50ml coffee liqueur
• 25ml whipping cream with a minimum fat content of 30%
• 1 teaspoon almond butter
• ½ teaspoon honey
• Ice

How to proceed?

1. Put the almond butter, cream and honey in a shaker or blender and mix gently. If you use a blender, do not mix for more than 15 seconds. Otherwise, it will turn into whipped cream :)
2. Put ice in a whiskey glass, pour in vodka and cocoa liqueur, and top with the cream mix.
3. Cheers :)
